EDIT (7/19/2020): There is a fantastic guide to the Ooblets and crops that can be found here! Credit goes to the Ooblets Discord and the creators mentioned within it.
Ooblets, the delightfully cute farming/creature caring/friendship making game is out now in Early Access for Xbox and Epic Games Store! This little article is to provide some tips and tricks for starting out. Some of these may change as the balance of the game shifts and other features are completed or changed. (I am also playing the PC version) That said, there are some things to keep an eye on before they change, and some things to ignore until they're fixed!
A good general tip: be patient. You have all the time in the world in this game, so just relax and try not to rush through things. The world is so cute and you can take in everything at your own pace.
Also a good rule of thumb: explore! There a ton of resources that spawn in the world each day, from sparkly spots in buildings to rare things like Oobsidian out in the town. Oobsidian is going to be the thing you'll be needing the most and always not having enough of, but be patient! The more you play the more common it has been I've found. (EDIT: Gleamie ooblets can find Oobsidian on your farm when in Oobcoops!) Just exploring the town and breaking rocks at the farm will get you a decent supply.
Here are some tips to help you out though.
🏡 COOPS > SPRINKLERS 🚿
When starting out, look to place oobcoops over sprinkers to start. They allow you to have more Ooblets, and upgraded versions can even plant seeds and water your plants for you! They will also shorten growth time so you can put the longer growing seeds around these. Don't be stressed out keeping your farm fully planted and going at all times though. You have tons of time and only so much energy each day.
Sprinklers do come in handy, but require a resource gained from rainy days and gears from the second zone (accessed by the hot air balloon) to make. They are good for the large batches of fast crops, such as Caroots and Sweetiebeeties at the start. These fast crops will make for a good way to make money (gummies) fast. You will find later jobs from at Plenny's will need later crops, but don't forget that Sweetiebeeties and Muz can be used to create things like Muz flour, that are needed for certain food recipes.

✨ GUMMIES GUMMIES GUMMIES ✨
It will be *very* tempting to buy clothes and furniture when you start out! You can definitely do this but if you want to get ahead earlier, there are some upgrades and other things to focus on first though before you go on a shopping spree. Upgrading your storage (fanny packs/backpacks, chests from the furniture store) is an important asset to start. Don't forget to buy the seeds that are on sale as well! You might also get lucky and find the watering can upgrade on sale too. It's worth it to try and wait for that upgrade until that happens.
Building a good set of seeds and a stock of crops is important for fulfilling the requests beside the seed store. This is a nice steady income, but only take a job if you can finish it right away! At the start: you can only accept one at a time. Feel free to delete any requiring Clothplant at the start, as you will need those for fixing up the town and building coops for your farm. Also, any job that requires you to part with any material that comes from the branches and rocks on your farm is an easy job to finish. Spend a bit of time cleaning up your farm and you'll be swimming in these resources. (Even sell some if you need money ASAP!)
Another great way to make gummies at the start: OOBLETS. Every new Ooblet you grow can be scanned at Rugnolia's place in the top right corner of Badgetown. Regular gets you 50 gummies, unusual ones get you 100. (Not sure yet about the gleamies, haven't gotten one yet myself!) This makes for some good start-up capital to get crops going.
You'll want to keep a stock of items to make food, fulfill requests, and dance battle with new Ooblets! Speaking of requests...

🌈 FRIENDSHIP 🌈
One of the first things to fix in town is the friendship sticker machine! After it is fixed, you'll be able to improve your friendship with many of Badgetown's residents. You will gain a little friendship with them each day by just checking in with them (white dot over their head), you can also fulfill their requests when they give them for a big bonus! Keep up with these as in at the start, this is a very good source of gummies and COFFEE.
Coffee is magical as it gives you a bunch of energy and makes you run faster. You will get a ton of these from friendship level ups, I use at least one a day and haven't run out yet. (EDIT: Still haven't made a single one and now have 50 of them.) They are also a common thing that folks will ask for as well. I try to keep 10 or so on myself at all times. You will also get furniture, Ooblets accessories, clothes, and other resources from these level ups!

⛲ WISHING, BADGES & UPGRADES! 🌻
As you play, you will notice you will start to accumulate "wishies"! These come from badges (that Ooblet really must be tired from chasing you down) and daily tasks. This part is currently... not balanced well. Some daily tasks require you do extremely difficult or expensive things and then give you 5 wishies. For now: I'd ignore the difficult daily tasks.
Therefore, most of them you'll gain from badges! This makes this a kind of limited resource and there are upgrades to prioritize.
You will get more upgrades to wish for from leveling up (also not currently balanced well). You'll find most of your experience will come from the daily friendship points you get, so that is another reason to make sure you don't miss out!
When you do build up a good supply of wishies, focus on the QoL (quality of life) upgrades first. These include the Oobcoop upgrades, the sprinkler, the energy bar increase, run speed, more seeds, and more Ooblets. It can be tempting to get more clothes and haircuts (and those are fun!) but building up a good farm infrastructure and gummy savings will make those upgrades more rewarding later. As a reminder though, you have all the time in the world! The game expands at your pace (unlike say, a Stardew Valley) so feel free to not min-max ALL the time.

EDIT: You can get wishies from the Dance Barn! This makes it a less rare resource so you won't need worry as much about how you spend it.

🎣 FISHING & OOBLET DANCE BATTLES 🎶
When you first start out, you'll notice a bunch of dirty cans around town. These can be pick up and "reconstitooted" into slurry! That will let you craft bait to fish with. You'll find this a sloooooow resource to gain. There is a way around this! After you visit the second zone via hot air balloon, you will find a gear-like resource (edit: Sprockuts!) that will change your life. This will probably be patched.

These gears are needed for sprinklers, but spawn in large quantities every day. They are also worth a 30(!) slurry each. Stocking up on these allows you to create a ton of bait. This is handy as you can fish up a limited resource that will shorten crop grow times and keep them watered for longer, handy for the more difficult crops.
When it comes to dance battles: unlock the Dance Barn! I haven't found any of the battles too difficult yet so I've kept a mostly consistent and varied starting line that has served me well. This may change with patches/later in the game but don't sweat it too much for now. The tournaments in the barn will get you access to exlusive Ooblets you can't grow from winning seeds in either zone. Plus: they are CUTE AS HECK.

MISCELLANEOUS TIPS
1. As I mentioned above, Ooblets Tournaments in the Dance Barn can earn you wishies! Be sure to participate in these daily as you can get 100-170 wishies from this source. Be sure to watch out for the rules as well, if you lose you're out of the tournament and will need to wait to the next day. You don't want to get stuck in a 1v1 battle with your Tud where you can only use signature moves. (Slowest. battle. ever.)
2. The Clubs in town will provide you with some new items to go after! They all take coins, which you can earn from the tasks they post or through finding them scattered around town. The items they offer can range from one-use cards for dance battles, to Ooblets accessories, to items you'll need to challenge later Ooblets for a seed!
3. Leveling up Ooblets will only provide new cards up until Level 3. Levels past that however will make them faster in running the farm equipment! Be sure to swap your team around.

4. If you want a certain clothing item or furniture item, hold off on upgrading the stock of those stores! This will make it more likely you'll see it in stock before a bunch of new items are added to the potential stock.
5. Townfolk have their own routines so watch out for that! They'll wander around sometimes and in some cases, not be available to talk to (the Barber!) while they are working.

6. Your haircut is irrelevant when wearing a hat! Each hat comes with its own hairstyle currently.
7. Stock up your chests to the brim! That way you can just say "DEPOSIT ALL" and dump the relevant crops and items into their existing stacks. (Also, you can't move chests while they have stuff in it.)

These are some quick Ooblets tips for you folks! (I may have also forgotten the name of some things...)
